One Verse from Each Surah – Al-An‘ām

Surah Al-An‘ām is a great Surah that covers many important subjects that we should learn about. It places strong emphasis on Aqeedah (faith and belief), our behavior and conduct, what we eat, and our relationships with people of other faiths.

The first ayah I would like to share with you is Ayah 59, which reminds us of the comprehensive knowledge of Allah ﷻ:

“And with Him are the keys of the unseen; no one knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. Nor is there a grain in the darknesses of the earth, nor anything wet or dry, but is written in a clear record.”
— Qur’an 6:59

This ayah reminds us that Allah’s knowledge is beyond our understanding. Nothing escapes His knowledge—not even a leaf that falls from a tree or a seed hidden in the darkness of the earth. Allah knows our circumstances, our struggles, our hopes, and our needs.

Therefore, rest assured that Allah knows you and knows everything about you. Turn to Him, ask Him for what you need, and place your trust in Him. We may not always understand what is happening in our lives, but we can always be certain that Allah ﷻ knows.

Another beautiful reminder comes from Ayah 125, where Allah ﷻ explains what happens when He opens a person's heart to guidance:

“So whoever Allah wills to guide, He opens their heart to Islam; and whoever He wills to leave astray, He makes their heart tight and constricted as though they were climbing into the sky.”
— Qur’an 6:125

Guidance is a blessing from Allah. When Allah opens our hearts to guidance, faith becomes a source of peace and clarity. But when a person turns away from guidance, the heart can become constricted, troubled, and lost.

This is why we should constantly ask Allah ﷻ to keep our hearts firm upon faith and guide us to what is right.

Finally, Ayah 160 gives us tremendous hope and encouragement:

“Whoever comes with a good deed will have ten times its like, and whoever comes with an evil deed will only be recompensed with its equivalent, and they will not be wronged.”
— Qur’an 6:160

Allah ﷻ does not treat our good deeds merely one-for-one. One good deed can be rewarded tenfold, while an evil deed is recorded only according to its equivalent. This is from the immense mercy and generosity of Allah.

The important thing is our sincerity, intention, and dedication in doing good for the sake of Allah. Even deeds that may appear small to us can become great in the sight of Allah when they are done sincerely.

May Allah ﷻ open our hearts to His guidance, accept our good deeds, forgive our mistakes, and grant us sincerity in everything we do for His sake.

Ameen.
