The Light of Hijrah: A Turning Point for Humanity
The Hijrah of Rasoul Allah ﷺ from Mecca to Madinah stands as one of the most transformative events in the history of mankind. It was not merely a change of location—it was the moment when Allah ﷻ turned a persecuted community into a flourishing nation, shifting the Arabian Peninsula from shirk to Tawheed, from darkness to light, and from tribal division to unity, purpose, and strength. Allah reminds us of this divine transition: “Allah is the Protector of those who believe; He brings them out of darkness into light” (Qur’an 2:257).
Before the Hijrah to Madinah, two waves of migration took place to East Africa (Abyssinia), where a group of companions found safety under the just rule of the Negus. These early migrations planted the seeds of community, resilience, and trust in Allah’s promise. Yet it was the Hijrah to Madinah that established the first prophetic society—built on faith, justice, compassion, and shared responsibility. It was here that the Prophet ﷺ formed the Constitution of Madinah, united the Muhajirun and Ansar, and laid the foundation of a model Islamic civilization.
Rasoul Allah ﷺ taught us that true migration is not only physical but spiritual. He said: “The true muhajir is the one who abandons what Allah has forbidden” (Bukhari). The Hijrah calls every believer to move from sin to obedience, from heedlessness to remembrance, and from selfishness to service.
As we reflect on this blessed event, we pray that Allah allows us to internalize its lessons—steadfastness in faith, trust in Allah’s plan, commitment to community, and the courage to stand for truth. May He make us among those who carry the spirit of Hijrah in our hearts and actions, and may He unite our community upon guidance and righteousness.
Ameen.
